First ever JDB round at Santa Pod Raceway - Big Bang, May 7/8 report

Last weekend saw the first ever Junior Drag Bike event at Santa Pod where 9 of the girls and boys took part in the ‘Big Bang Festival’.    After four very close qualifying rounds it was Jordon Bissell on top of the pile with a fantastic 9.17 on a 9.15 dial, followed by  Scott Collier on a 9.05 on a 9.00 dial, brilliant stuff.  This gave Jordon the bye run in the first round,  where Brett Cordelle took the win over Alfie Udall, Scott took the win over Jake Charman, Louis Davies defeated Jasmine Cordelle and Conor Meehan took the win over Jack Wildeman.  In the quarter finals Jordon took the win light from Brett, Scott got the bye run, and little Louis took out Conor.  This gave Louis a bye run into the final and Jordon and Scott to battle it out, where Scott took the win.  Finals time and after a 5 second wait on the start line, Scott managed to beat Louis to the line within his dial in time.  Fantastic performance from all the kids, Louis taking the Eurodragster/Gold RV perfect dial in time, what a star!  It was a fantastic weekend from start to finish, and we can’t wait to be back at Santa Pod for the National Finals in September, many thanks to everyone who made this possible and all the crew for making JDB so welcome.

No rest for the JDB’ers as we are straight back to Shakey this weekend for the Junior Drag Bike Championship Round 2, where anything could happen! This is a 12 bike field mirroring round one held at Shakey in April, (for which we apologise for lack of results due to me being sent to hospital and doing as I was told and taking it easy)  Round one saw Scott Collier taking the win and Alfie Udall in runner up spot, with Brett Cordelle taking the points for best RT.    Everyone is really geared up for championship round 2, this year is already shaping up to be the best yet, with even closer racing, closer dial ins and an ever increasing array of diverse and beautiful machines, with more riders on their way.   Many Thanks to our wonderful sponsors for this year,  Ingrid and Martin at IMPhotography,  GLS Engineering, Glyn Sainsbury, High Signs and Graphics, Coombes Property Services, Lightning Automotive Evesham, Projoint Custom Fabrications and  Mitech Systems.  Our JDB hospitality area will be open and all our sponsors are very welcome to come and have a sit down and enjoy a cuppa and a cake with us at any time throughout the event.    Many Thanks!

Nearly a new season!

Hi everybody,

Here we are just weeks away from a new season, hope you are all ready to go testing! Please don't forget that some people will need to do observed passes.  These can be done at the first test weekend at Shakespeare County Raceway, which is 2/3 April.  They can also be done on the weekend of the first round, however we cannot  guarantee that you will then have chance to put in a qualifying session which enables you to be in the eliminations/points championship on sunday.  Best doing them the first test weekend if possible.  Below are the groups of people who will need to be observed:

New riders

Riders on newly built machines

Riders on machines new to them

If you are in doubt weather you need to be observed, please give Julie Willcox a call at the track, she will be able to advise you.   Observed passes are two runs under the eye of the clerk of the course, who will confirm that the rider is in full control and has the ability to ride their machine safely.  Once these runs are done, he will give you a signed paper which allows you to take part in competition.

Heres to a fantastic 2011 !

Sharron

Looking for people!

We are looking for individuals or companies that we can advertise in 2011.  We want to publicise these people on all our press releases on various websites including www.eurodragster.com, www.kingracing.com www.stripbike.com , on our website and facebook page, outside our pit areas at all our championship meetings and test weekends, and at all the static displays we attend.  If you have small stickers we would happily put a sticker on each of the motorcycles in the championship also.  We are racing at Shakespeare County Raceway and Santa Pod Raceway this year, which are high profile events.  We may see our first ever 16 bike field. We are also at test weekends all through summer.   You or your company would get advertised by us for the whole of the 2011 season for the incredibld price of £200.  Why would you do this? well, you would get publicised in a very unique way, by a very professional, exciting, up and coming class.  Not to mention the riders, these kids are just the best.  They are talented, professional, funny, crazy, inspirational, unique, individual, brilliant, and the reason why me and Jerry love co-ordinating this class so much.  Join our team and you can see just how much fun it can be to advertise.  If you would like any information please give us a call on 01246 570304 anytime.  Junior Drag Bike has its own bank account and treasurer, so you know that every penny you pay in goes straight to the class.  We would love to talk to you, Many Thanks!!!

More Girl-Torque!

Welcome to another lady rider, Bobby Frasier.  Not officially new, as Bobby rode the ex-Scott Collier now Skye Collier's JDB 'Junior Storm' at the end of last season and ran into the low ten second bracket, so watch out everyone! This season will see Bobby on board her own machine, alongside cousins Brett and Jasmine Cordelle.  We can't say 'welcome' to Bobby, sister Megan and Mum Kerryanne, as they are already part of the JDB family, but we can say 'yeeehhawwwww' and 'get the oven on!' and hope for  more cakes from Aunty Kerryanne, the infamous 'Muffin Lady' .  Can't wait to see you all again girls!!!!

Junior Drag Bike to run at Santa Pod in 2011 !!

We had great news today, when we heard from Phil Evans of Santa Pod
Raceway that Junior Drag Bike will be running at Santa Pod in 2011!

We would like to say a huge ‘Thankyou’ to Phil and all the people at Santa
Pod that have supported us, and also to  Anthony Hodges, Julie Willcox ,
Jerry Cookson  and all the crew past and present at Shakespeare County
Raceway who have supported and believed in us these past years,  Also
thanks to Ian King and Tog and the Eurodragster team for reporting our
results and news items.

The JDB class has come on in leaps and bounds these last few years, and we
are already up to 13 riders for next season with more in the pipeline.
This could be the year we see our first 16 bike field.

The A.P.I.R.A Junior Drag Bike Championship calendar is:
Round 1 – 16/17 April
Round 2 -  Springspeed Festival – 14/15 May
Round 3 -  July 9/10
Round 4 -  Open Sports Nationals – 27/28/29 August
FINALS    -   October 1/2

And the two Santa Pod rounds are:

PLEASE NOTE!!!!! CHANGE OF DATE!!!! UPDATED 10/1/11

Big Bang  - 6/7/8 May

National Finals - 24/25 September

This is a trial year for JDB at Santa Pod but we are certain that our
junior riders will step up to the mark and put on a great show as always.

This is a brilliant up-and-coming class, with close, professional racing
that is edge-of-the-seat stuff.   We are so proud of all the riders, and
are so chuffed that we can now show a wider audience just how great they
are and how brilliant this class is.  We as a country should be very proud
that we have the Junior Drag Bike class.

First round review

Sharron Collier says that the UK's Junior Drag Bike racers had a great start to the season at Shakespeare County Raceway, but that it could have been a lot different:

The weekend may not have happened at all if it were not for the determination and hard work of the Shakespeare County Raceway crew. With five key members of the team stranded in Dallas by the Icelandic volcano, it could have been curtains for the opening round but the team rallied round and worked over and above the call of duty to make sure that the weekend not only went ahead, but that it was a brilliant success. Along with wall to wall sunshine, this turned out to be a corker of a meeting with a brand new sponsor in the form of CC Medical Services and an eight bike field for the first time ever in JDB, with four new riders and four established riders.

CCP Junior Dragbile Championship 2010

We had three rounds of qualifying after which the positions were as follow:

   1. Brett Cordelle dialled 9.40 ran 9.400
   2. Jordon Bissell dialled 10.00 ran 10.06
   3. Alfie Udall dialled 13.10 ran 13.18
   4. Louis Davies dialled 17.75 ran 17.85
   5. Scott Collier dialled 9.70 ran 9.83
   6. Giselle Moor dialled 11.30 ran 11.74
   7. Jack Wildeman dialled 13.20 ran 14.29
   8. Jasmine Cordelle dialled 16.50 ran 17.68

After racing finished on Saturday evening we took all the riders and their bikes down to the start line where Ian and Dorothy of CC Medical Services presented us with a cheque for £1000, their sponsorship for the 2010 season. This means that we can present prize money to winner and runner up of each round, among many other things.

Sunday was just as sunny and warm as Saturday and we began eliminations. The first round was Brett against Jasmine, brother against sister, with Brett taking the win; Louis was up against Scott, with Scott getting the win; Jordon was racing Jack, with Jordon taking the win; and Alfie was against Giselle, with Alfie getting though to the semis.

In the semi-finals we had Scott and Brett with Scott getting to the line first, and Jordan against Alfie with Jordon beating Alfie to the win.

The final was old stalwarts Jordon against Scott, long time buddies and competitors, with Jordon taking the win.

After the racing Ian and Dorothy of CC Medical Services presented Jordon and Scott with their trophies, and gorgeous trophies they are too. Not only that, but each child was presented with a medal for being a competitor, which was great especially for our new riders who got to take home some bling to show their mates at school! We also gave £30 and £20 to the winner and runner up respectively.

We are so proud of all our riders old and new alike. The old hands were so great at showing the newbies what to do and making them feel welcome, they all got along really well and were good buddies. Our new riders amazed us at times, they picked up the ropes so quickly and soon felt comfortable in a race situation with no dramas, breakdowns or tantrums, and the same for us parents! Everyone did a fantastic job, the new bikes were beautifully turned out (as were the old of course) and all the kids behaved brilliantly throughout the weekend. Truly a credit to their parents and, in Louis' case, grandparents - Louis' bike was built by Grandad Pete, a well known name in drag race circles and we are very proud to have them aboard.

During the afternoon we were given a cash donation by Roy Wilding, who told us that he was very impressed with the class and the riders. Thankyou so much for that Roy, totally out of the blue and much appreciated. What a great man.

Thank you to all the staff at Shakey, they cannot be beaten for their enthusiasm and care for the children and they give our kids so much confidence because of their kindness and approachability. When the kids are happy we are all happy. Thanks to each and every one of you for that. Its going to be a great and record breaking year, keep watching!

Junior Dragbike first round

This weekend's Public Test and Tune at Shakespeare County Raceway includes the first round of this year's CC Medical Services Junior Drag Bike Championship.

"We have an eight bike field consisting of four established riders and four new junior competitors on new bikes", says Sharron Collier of the Junior Drag Bikes. "It promises to be an exciting start to the season where anything could happen, the new guys were very professional at their first outing two weeks ago. This will certainly stir things up with the 'old' riders, some of whom are on fresh engines which they must now get to a good level of consistency. This is the first time there has ever been an eight bike field in JDB, and there are a few more bikes still being built for later in the year. We would like to say thanks once again to all at Shakespeare County Raceway and to Ian and Dorothy of CC Medical Services for becoming this year's title sponsors. This is going to be a fantastic year for Junior Drag Bike and the class is going from strength to strength. Visit us at www.juniordragbike.co.uk and become a fan on Facebook - search for Junior Drag Bike Club.
